Certificate in Home Health Assistance (CHHA)

A trained and qualified health care professional who assists a patient with personal care (such as hygiene and exercise) while they are at home and who also keeps track of the patient's health is known as a home health assistant (HHA). The goal of the Home Health Assistance (HHA) programme is to create a pool of skilled workers who can be hired to support patients and help other healthcare professionals in home settings. It is a short-term skill-based training programme. There is more evidence that home-based help is necessary as non-communicable illnesses, critically sick patients, and accidental cases rise. Numerous home health aides also work in assisted living facilities, which offer independent living in a community setting that mimics a home with access to professional care as needed. The curriculum aims to prepare students to demonstrate general hygiene and grooming skills, bathing procedures and guidelines, mouth, eye, ear, skin, hair, nail, and foot care, feeding the patient, attending to the patient's urination needs and procedures, assisting geriatric/paralytic/immobile patients in adjusting to changes in their health and environment, including reducing the risk of falls, and a variety of other skills.
