Certificate in Beekeeping (CIB)
IGNOU Certificate in Beekeeping programme details
Worldwide, there is a constant rise in demand for honey. A small number of people are employed to raise the bees, and the majority of the honey is harvested from uncultivated sources (the forest). The output of honey is lower because of inadequate infrastructure and a lack of technical expertise. When this unorganised sector is developed as an organised one for the benefit of society, there is significant potential in this area. Successful honey production in a village gives farmers, farm women, and rural youth economic and nutritional stability as well as empowerment. Beekeeping contributes to the preservation of natural resources. To encourage the adoption of more advanced technology available in this field, it is necessary to teach enhanced technical knowledge to traditional beekeepers. The beekeeper could need the certification in order to apply for financial aid from any bank, non-profit organisation, or governmental agency, etc. The program's primary goals are to spread knowledge about contemporary beekeeping, improve human resources in the beekeeping industry, diversify apiculture to boost farmer income, and help beekeepers become more entrepreneurial.
