Diploma in Horticulture (DHORT)
IGNOU Diploma in Horticulture programme details
The Diploma in Horticulture (DHORT) was created to meet the needs of horticulture knowledge and skill upgradation. The Government of India's Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer's Welfare provided funding for the creation of this initiative. In addition to dealing with the preservation and manufacture of value-added goods from fruits, vegetables, and flowers, horticulture is the science and art of producing fruits, vegetables, blooming plants, and landscaping. Horticultural goods play a huge role in the diet of humans. The job prospects in this industry are excellent across its range of specialisations. Growing seedlings of various crop plants, whether for fruit or for aesthetic reasons, is a developing field known as nursery management. Other areas in this industry that offer better employment prospects include the cultivation of vegetables outside of the growing season and kitchen gardening. Lawn maintenance, urban gardening, and roof gardening are all currently growing in importance.
