PGD in Library Automation and Networking (PGDLAN)
IGNOU Post Graduate Diploma in Library Automation and Networking programme details
The goal of the Post Graduate Diploma in Library Automation and Networking (PGDLAN) is to help library and information professionals improve their skills in an automated and networked setting. The programme also gives learners chances to do depth or intensive practical work to improve their technical skills so they can build or run a computerised library and information centre on their own.
The aim of the programme is to teach students about library automation and the services that an automated library offers, as well as about the parts of an information system, networking and Internet technology in general, and library and information networks in particular, the Internet, with a focus on the different kinds of information resources available and how to use them, and how to make content that can be used on the web. It also aims to teach students about the legal issues surrounding information, to design and develop a programme that improves programming skills using specific languages like Java, Visual Basic, or C++, and to do a practical project that allows them to specialise in one of the key areas of library automation and networking.
